Road transit is the default
- Most UK–Spain moves go by road (ferry Portsmouth/Dover then drive) — cheaper and faster than sea freight for most household loads.
- Door-to-door transit: 5–10 days typical, sometimes 2 weeks in peak summer.
Post-Brexit customs
- You need a T1 transit document, packing list valued for customs, and proof of residency in Spain (NIE, empadronamiento).
- Personal effects owned for 6+ months are duty and VAT free if you're establishing residency within 12 months of the move.
- Budget £180–£350 for the removals firm's customs paperwork.
Popular Spanish destinations from our network
- Costa del Sol, Costa Blanca, Barcelona, Madrid, Valencia and the Balearics are covered weekly.
